Hello there!!! My name is Lisa. I love JESUS, in case you couldn’t already tell from my website 😉 I also love to read, write, practice lettering/calligraphy, sing to my Savior, play my guitar, and in my spare time, learn more about writing and blogging.
I have a passion for sharing the truth of God’s Word. Mostly, I do this through my writing. I had accepted Christ as my Savior right before I came to the U.S. and in the initial stages of struggling to adjust here in a new country, I found myself gravitating toward God’s Word.
My struggles growing up weren’t any rock-your-world monumental events but I can only say God’s grace has “kept” me over the years. My struggles have been internal as I would say in time past I wasn’t as emotionally healthy and didn’t value myself as much. Christ has shown me otherwise. I realize I have intrinsic value because of who I am in Him and solely that; I am not defined by my situations or accomplishments.
If you knew my husband, he would tell you about my collection of “journals” from over the years. Most of these are just my personal notes out of time spent with God in prayer and in His Word. To be honest, God gently reminds me of those early days and I have been struggling to cultivate the same kind of disciplined time in the Word. However, my love for His Word and the truth continues to grow and His grace pushes me to want to know Him more every day. Did I mention I’m thankful for grace? 🙂
I love to write because, well, honestly as Paul says “Christ’s love compels us…” I can’t help but share THIS LOVE for without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today. His love pursues me, His grace beckons me, His mercy continues to spare me. God has given me purpose and I have more than I deserve simple due to His love that He lavishes on me.
I wish to communicate God’s message to His world in a way that is simple and portable (can be easily remembered and shared with or passed on to others). I have been learning this through my own times with Jesus, through a lot of reading and lastly, listening to some of my favorite preachers/teachers of God’s Word. A few of my favorite authors/teachers are A.W. Tozer, C.S. Lewis, John Phillips, John MacArthur, Adrian Rogers and Ravi Zacharias.
In all these years of walking with the Lord, I can only testify of God’s faithfulness and goodness in my life. I am a wife to my husband Happy (yes that is really his name 🙂 of 5 years. Happy is passionate about and gifted in teaching God’s Word and I learn a lot from him. We have a little one named Judah, the cutest curly-haired kid who loves Jesus, reading books, watching Peppa Pig/Daniel Tiger and asks about a hundred and one questions a day. I love being a wife and mom to these two!
I have a heart for other women and young couples. I absolutely love for opportunities to connect deeply with others. I desire to get people to think and to get them to ask the more important questions of life. God made us for more, but we are constantly in danger of settling for the ordinary when there is an extraordinary purpose behind why we are here. We are created for His glory and anything short of that leaves us incomplete and searching for more.
My heart is for YOU to find this love that found me. You are a precious soul to God so if you matter to Him then you matter to me.
I pray my writing would draw you closer to God and that you would listen to Him and be challenged to find your calling and purpose in Christ. God never disappoints and He always delivers. He is as good as HIS Word.
You are pursued after by a God who created you with a magnificent purpose. YOU ARE WORTH IT! I hope your time here on my site gives you a glimpse into that truth. Give God a chance. I promise you, you will never look back.
If you have been encouraged during your time on my site, please subscribe / follow /share! I would greatly appreciate it.
This site was born after much waiting on God, trust and prayer. The Lord has laid all my doubts, fears and feelings of inadequacies to rest, knowing that He goes before me and equips me for any good work He calls me to!
Why the name Beauty Set Apart?
1 Peter 3:4 says “but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.” (God’s definition of beauty.)
1 Samuel 16:7b says “For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” (It is always the heart that matters to God. He knows our intentions, our thoughts, our deepest desires.)
Psalm 4:3a says “But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself;” (God is looking for those who are willing to truly follow after Him so we can be set apart for His purpose.)
Beauty Set Apart.
